A turnkey website: what it really means and what the price covers

What a turnkey website includes — domain, hosting, design, layout, CMS, analytics and SEO — and what is usually billed separately.

“Turnkey website” is a market promise, not an industry standard. Every contractor puts a different set of work behind it. One includes a domain and hosting; another only builds the layout from a ready mockup. So “a turnkey site for N rubles” means nothing until the scope is written down.

What is usually included

  • A domain and hosting for the first year — registered in your name, not the contractor's.
  • Design: page structure, a prototype and a visual mockup that fits your brand.
  • Layout: responsive behaviour on phone, tablet and desktop, tested in browsers.
  • An admin panel or CMS if you plan to change texts and prices yourself.
  • Content migration: copy, photos and price lists placed into the agreed structure.
  • Lead forms, contact buttons and notifications by email or messenger.
  • Analytics: counters, goals for leads and calls, a basic event check.
  • An SEO baseline: page titles and descriptions, sitemap, robots, loading speed.
  • Training: a short guide or a call on how to use the site and the admin panel.
  • A warranty and full access: the domain, hosting and code stay with you.

That is the baseline. If a quote says only “website development” with no breakdown, ask what exactly is inside. The difference between proposals is often scope, not price.

What is almost always billed separately

  • Copywriting: writing sales copy is a separate job, not “moving text around”.
  • Photo and video production, illustrations and unique imagery.
  • A logo and brand identity if you do not have them yet.
  • An ad budget: a website does not bring leads by itself without traffic.
  • Search promotion: SEO is ongoing work, not a one-off meta tag setup.
  • Integrations with ERP, CRM, inventory, payments and delivery — priced by scenario.
  • Personal accounts, roles and complex logic — that is a platform, not a website.
  • Support after the warranty period and CMS updates.
  • Paid plugins, themes, subscriptions and payment processing fees.

What drives the price

FactorHow it changes the cost
Number of unique templatesEvery new page template is separate work
Content readinessReady copy and photos reduce the cost and speed up launch
CMS or custom buildA ready CMS is cheaper; custom code is more flexible and costs more
Integrations and paymentsMore scenarios mean more work and more testing
Accounts and rolesThat is a platform: architecture, permissions, security
DeadlinesA rushed launch requires parallel work and costs more

That is why a turnkey site with a ready brief and design is almost always cheaper than “turnkey from scratch”: in the second case you also pay for research, structure and a visual concept. It is not a markup — it is a different amount of work.

How long it takes

A landing page or a small business card site usually takes a few days. A corporate website takes one to two weeks when the content is ready. A site with a catalog and orders takes several weeks. A platform with personal accounts is delivered in stages from a month. Deadlines are almost always limited by approvals and materials, not by development.

How we work

We start with a short review: what the site must do, who will update it and which leads should come in. Then we fix the scope and the quote. The domain and hosting are registered to the client, and analytics plus a basic SEO setup go in from day one, not “later”. If the task can be solved more cheaply — for example, a landing page is enough — we say so.

What a website costs in 2026: an honest breakdown

You can see our solutions and scope on the services page, and a rough estimate in the calculator on the home page. An exact quote appears after we review the task, not from a random price list.
